Pay Grade:
$55,000–$65,000 annually (based on qualifications and experience)

Volunteers and consultants involved in development efforts
Summary:
The Development Director is responsible for leading and managing all fundraising efforts to support the mission of Mariposa Family Learning Center (MFLC). This role focuses on cultivating donor relationships, securing grants, and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Located in southeast Austin, MFLC empowers children to thrive and helps families build pathways out of poverty by providing high-quality, subsidized early learning and care.
Essential Job Functions:
Fundraising Strategy and Execution:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and implement a multi-faceted fundraising plan, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, churches, fundraising events, and community outreach.
- Identify, research, and pursue new funding opportunities while staying informed of trends and best practices in fundraising and early childhood education.
Donor Relations and Engagement:
- Build and sustain strong relationships with current and prospective donors.
- Cultivate donor engagement through meaningful touchpoints, personalized communication, and acknowledgment of contributions.
- Ensure donors have a positive experience that strengthens their long-term support of MFLC.
Grant Writing and Reporting:
- Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Maintain relationships with grantmakers and provide timely reporting and updates as required.
Development Operations:
- Manage the donor database to track contributions, donor engagement, and recognition activities accurately.
- Prepare regular development reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors to evaluate progress against fundraising goals.
- Oversee the fundraising budget, monitor expenses, and provide strategic recommendations.
Volunteer and Consultant Supervision:
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and consultants involved in fundraising activities.
- Ensure all development efforts align with MFLC’s mission and goals.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Represent MFLC in the community and at events to raise awareness and support for the organization.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to enhance the Center’s visibility and reputation within the Austin community.

Minimally Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, nonprofit administration, or 4 years working in a related field (of equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, and grant writing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships with diverse donors and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in donor management systems, Microsoft Office, social media tools, CANVA or similar relevant software applications.
- Familiarity with trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
Work Environment:
- MFLC is located at 403 Vargas Road, Austin, Texas 78741.
- The position is primarily in-person with flexibility for occasional remote work within the Austin metropolitan area.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $55,000–$65,000 annually (based on experience).
